How We Do It
Marine and RV interior cleaning, on site at the dock or in your driveway
Boat and RV interiors get cleaned where they already are. We bring the truck-mounted van down to the marina, park as close to your slip as the dock allows, and run the hoses aboard. Nothing has to be pulled out, carted to a shop, and fitted back afterwards, and you do not lose a day moving the boat to us. An RV works the same way in your driveway or at the storage lot.
The equipment is the same truck-mounted hot water extraction we use for upholstery cleaning in houses, running at 220°F, and the heat matters more afloat than it does ashore. Heat is what releases the salt, sunscreen, fish slime, and diesel film that work down into marine carpet and cushion fabric. The vacuum side is what carries the water back out to the van rather than leaving it in the hull, and on a boat how much moisture you take away with you is most of the job.
Power and water come off the van, not off your slip. The truck-mount carries its own water and heats it with its own engine, so we are not asking the marina for a hookup or running a cord to your pedestal. Only the hose and the wand come down the dock, we keep them flat and out of the walkway, and we pick up after ourselves. The same setup works off a driveway or a storage lot for an RV.
Most of our marine work happens on the Anacortes waterfront, around Cap Sante and the marina district, and at the Oak Harbor Marina. We cover the rest of Whidbey Island and the Skagit valley too, and we clean RV interiors in driveways and storage lots island-wide. There is no ferry surcharge, so where you keep the boat does not change the quote.
Working boats are a steady part of this rather than a sideline. Commercial fishing vessels, charter boats, and workboats off the Anacortes waterfront take a harder beating below than any weekend cruiser does, and we are fully bonded and insured including commercial, which is the first thing an operator asks. If the office or the shop ashore needs floors done in the same week, that is commercial carpet cleaning and we quote the two together.
An RV heading into storage has a milder version of the same problem. It is drier than a hull, but it is still a sealed box full of fabric that will sit unopened through a wet winter. Crumbs under the dinette, a damp towel left in a cupboard, and whatever came in on people's shoes in August are all still in there in March, and a closed coach has no airflow to deal with any of it. A closed cabin and a closed-up house go stale for the same reason, which is covered in how to get musty smell out of carpet. Cleaning the soft goods before it gets parked is a far smaller job than dealing with what grows on them.
There are limits worth knowing before you call. Some marine fabrics and vinyls are solvent-only and will not take steam, so we check the tag or test a hidden area before we start rather than after. Mildew that has already gone deep into the foam of a cushion or a mattress sometimes will not come fully out, and if that is what we find we will say so straight rather than let you discover it slowly. Every vessel is laid out differently, so we quote per job once we have seen the boat and what is aboard, and the on-site estimate is free either way. What happens under shrink wrap
Wrap seals in whatever was in the cabin the day it went on. A damp, dirty interior then spends the winter with no light and no airflow, which is close to ideal conditions for mildew. Cleaning before the wrapper arrives is the whole difference.
A closed hull through a wet winter
Hulls sweat. Warm days and cold nights drive condensation onto every cold surface below, and it settles into carpet, cushions, and the underside of berth mattresses where nothing ever dries it out.
Soft goods take the damage first
Fiberglass and teak come through a damp winter fine. Carpet, cushion foam, mattresses, and headliner fabric are what hold the moisture, feed the mildew, and carry the smell you meet when you open her up in April.
The smell is in the fabric, not the boat
That cabin smell almost always lives in the soft goods rather than the structure. Extract the fabric properly and most of it leaves with the water, which is why cleaning beats airing her out and beats covering it up.
RVs, the drier version
A coach in a storage lot is sealed the same way, just without the condensation load. The spills, crumbs, and tracked-in dirt still sit there all winter, and they are much easier to deal with in September than in spring.
The haul-out window is short
The yards here fill from September into October, and once the wrap is on, the interior is out of reach until spring. Booking the inside clean in the same stretch as the bottom job is usually the only way it actually happens.

Do you clean boat interiors in Anacortes?

Can you clean berth mattresses on the boat?
Yes, in place. Berth and V-berth mattresses are cleaned aboard with the same extraction we use on furniture, working the top and the sides. The underside is where condensation collects, so we lift and check it. Dry time runs longer in a closed cabin, so we leave the berths open and get air moving.
Do you clean RV interiors in Oak Harbor?
